Things You'll Need:
- Tape measure Chalk Table saw Gloves Goggles
First, measure the area you wish to use the bamboo slat for. If it is to trim a countertop edge, mark the measurement for cutting. If the slat will be used the full length of a ceiling, you might need to leave the full size. The nice thing about bamboo slats is they are easy to cut.
Set up a table saw in a roomy area--you will need room on both sides of the saw to accommodate the 6-foot slats.
Plug in and turn on the table saw. Hold both sides of the bamboo slats securely with your hands.
Push the bamboo slat into the saw blade at the mark on your slat. Keep your fingers out of the way of the blade.
Keep the bamboo slat straight to ensure that your cut is straight. Cut slowly to avoid making a mistake.
Tips & Warnings
- Make sure to use a saw blade in your table saw that has at least 120 teeth. This will ensure a nice clean cut.
- Always wear gloves and goggles when using an electric power tool to protect your hands and eyes from sharp blades and flying wood pieces.
