It's fairly easy to install bamboo paneling just about anywhere in a home or office. The unique way in which the paneling is constructed makes it flexible, so it can be used not only to cover flat surfaces such as ceilings, walls, and wainscots, but also to wrap around pillars and posts or to cover all sides of a bar or kitchen island. The only real prep work that's needed when installing bamboo panels is to clean the surface you'll be covering to ensure the paneling adheres securely. Naturally, you'll want to cut the panels to size before beginning installation, too.
When you're ready to install bamboo paneling, Home Depot recommends first pre-drilling holes in the top left and right corners, 1 inch in from the top and sides. The next step is to apply construction adhesive to the back of the paneling along all four sides as well as in horizontal rows 8 inches apart from the bottom to the top of the panel. Allow the adhesive to set up for at least 10 minutes but no longer than 15, then press the panel to the wall. Apply even pressure to make the panel stick, then secure the panel to the wall with panel nails in the pre-drilled holes.
Once the paneling is installed, care and maintenance is minimal. Wipe it once a week with a soft, dry cloth to remove dust. Thoroughly clean it once a month with a microfiber cloth moistened with wood cleaner. Be sure the product you are using is formulated specifically to clean wood and avoid using oil soap, harsh detergents, scouring powder or other abrasive cleaners. Caring for your paneling properly will ensure it lasts long and looks great the entire time.
